A new generation of AI-native consumer companies is changing how Indians live, work, and play. This is a shift we explore in our Consumer AI in India roadmap. Nowhere is that wave more visible than travel. Roughly 30.9 million Indians traveled abroad in 2024, spending an estimated $41.3 billion, and first-time international travelers grew 32% year-over-year.
Yet even the once-a-year international holiday remains logistically complex: visa requirements, flight transfers, and activity planning, with a high bar for the “perfect trip” given the cost of customized travel. Search-and-filter online travel aggregators (OTAs) and fragmented local agents were built for neither the complexity nor the rarity of these occasions and yet most of that $41.3 billion still runs through them.
30 Sundays: An AI travel expert on call for every trip
Founded in 2025 by CEO Kshitij Chaudhary (previously at the Boston Consulting Group, and an Indian Institute of Technology Delhi alum) and CTO Anuj Punjani (previously at Apple), 30 Sundays rebuilds the international holiday end-to-end. Instead of a static search bar, travelers get an AI travel expert with a human in the loop - one that designs a personalized itinerary and stays on call from the visa application to the flight home.
As we got to know Kshitij, Anuj, and the team, three aspects of the business stood out:
- AI is the wedge across the entire stack, not a feature bolted on. 30 Sundays' AI powers its acquisition funnel, its core product, and its operational layer, which is what makes the platform's speed and personalization possible. Itineraries arrive in a video-first format with verified details on everything from expected crowds to queue times, travelers customize them by chatting with the agent, and a first draft reaches the customer in minutes rather than days.
- A human in the loop keeps reassurance at the center of every trip. The AI delivers speed; travel experts stay on call for the duration of the trip, responding to mid-trip changes without the usual back-and-forth. Clients get the personal relationship of an in-person travel agent with none of the waiting.
- The economics prove the AI-native foundation. 30 Sundays serves more customers with the same number of travel experts as a traditional agency, and its sales team is already twice as productive as top competitors and three times as productive as traditional travel agents. In our view, a vendor built on manual workflows couldn't replicate that combination without rebuilding from scratch.
We're proud to lead 30 Sundays' Series A. Built in just two years with notable capital efficiency, the company has profitably scaled across just four destinations - Bali, Vietnam, the Maldives, and Thailand. The customer love shows in a net promoter score (NPS) of 67 and a 4.6 Google rating. We look forward to partnering with Kshitij and Anuj as they build what we believe will be a defining AI-native consumer company in India, making honest, effortless travel the default for Indian couples.
